Carmen Moral Conductor
She was the first woman to be a Music Director and Conductor
of a first rank symphony orchestra in Latin America: The National
Symphony Orchestra of Peru. Carmen Moral was selected for this post
by a competition in which she was the only woman participant. She
also has been the Music director and Conductor of the Bogota
Philharmonic Orchestra in Colombia, the Music Director and Conductor
of «I. Frauen-KammerOrchester von Osterreich» in Vienna, the First
conductor of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet in Turkey, and the
Music Director and Conductor of the Mimar Sinan University’s
Symphony Orchestra in Istanbul, Turkey.
As a guest conductor she has appeared in 25 countries of
Europe, Asia, North and South America, in cities such as Vienna,
Washington D.C., Sao Paulo, Bucharest, Paris, Moscow, Beijing,
Buenos Aires, Mexico, Montevideo, Santiago, Oslo, Sofia and many
others. She has performed in theatres such as the «Grosser
Musikverein Saal» in Vienna, the Great Hall of Moscow’s
Conservatory, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the «Teatro Colon»
in Buenos Aires, the «Teatro Bellas Artes» in Mexico, the Theatre of
the Nationalities in Beijing etc.
Carmen Moral was born in Lima, Peru. She holds Master
Degrees of Manhattan School of Music and Columbia University of New
York City, as well as a Master and DEA in Musicology of the Sorbonne
University of Paris.
She is Honorary Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra
of Peru, and «Gran Oficial de la Orden al Mérito Ciudad de
Bogota».
Ms. Moral has held teaching positions at Manhattan College
of New York, the «Instituto Pedagogico de Mujeres» of Lima, Peru,
and at Mimar Sinan University of Istanbul,
Turkey.
Her repertory encompasses a wide range of musical styles.
She feels equally at home in symphony, opera and chamber music
genres.
